The Story Behind Campbell Creations
Campbell Creations began with a handmade gift.
After decades of working with wood, Bill Campbell created a charcuterie board for his wife, Shawn. When he presented the finished piece with meats and cheeses arranged on top, Shawn immediately recognized that it was more than an ordinary serving board.
She saw functional art—and the beginning of Campbell Creations.
The inspiration behind their work also reaches back to Bill’s family property in Wisconsin, where naturally fallen and storm-damaged trees revealed beautiful wood waiting to be given a new purpose. Rather than allowing that beauty to disappear, Bill began transforming the wood into original pieces designed to be used, displayed and appreciated.
Today, Bill is the artist and craftsman behind every Campbell Creations piece. He lets the grain, live edges, knots and natural character of the wood guide the design of each piece.
Shawn leads the business, marketing, customer experience, community partnerships and presentation behind Campbell Creations. She also brings the boards to life through charcuterie demonstrations, classes and private experiences.
Together, Bill and Shawn have taken the traditional charcuterie board far beyond the expected. Their work combines natural wood, distinctive shapes, artistic details and carefully placed epoxy to create pieces that stand on their own as art.
Each Campbell Creations board is created individually from their St. Charles studio. No two are identical, and each one carries the natural character and history of the wood from which it was created.
